Today marked the first day of my new project, The Buzz. It consists of Cup of Knowledge coffee house being open from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with me there to provide the standard coffee house treats and homework help. Advertising didn't begin until very recently, so I wasn't surprised at all when my only visitors were scrapbooking club (4 adults plus 2 children), my parents, Ben, and a rather pretty young blond who appeared to be rather taken with him. Neither I nor my mom recognized the girl, but like Ben, she sported on long maroon sock and one long gold sock and athletic shorts. She also boast having shot four deer and teased Ben for having only gotten one. From this first impression, I can already say I like her.
My "boss" stayed there for almost the entire time, which was sort of disappointing because I wanted this to me my own adventure--just as she as said it could be. At least she remained in the children's book room. Plus, I don't think she's coming at all tomorrow night. And good news! She's very apologetic about my not being paid yet. It will come. I know it. And fortunately, I'm at a place in my life where I can afford to wait, which I think is a great comfort for them--not only do they have extra help during this transition time but they can wait to pay for it until the transition passes.
I cleaned the house today too. I started at 8 a.m. and ended at 4 p.m. It looked great. Of course, it took twice as long as it should have, but I was relaxed while doing it and washed all the clothes and my own sheets in the process. Tomorrow, the entire youth group will be here, so Mom's quite happy that I cleaned today rather than the scheduled Thursday.
In all, I made $75.24 today. Oh, and enough to pay for a hot cocoa.
October 4 on a calendar in our home:
Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.
