I am literally trying not to cry here. The Matches' new video was supposed to debut today, while I was at work. I came home to a blog post from Shawn saying they are apparently in some trouble for breaking a law while filming the video, but he was gonna post anyhow. There is a youtube video link, but the video has been taken down. Based on the comments to the post, it was taken down pretty much immediately.
The bosslady still has no idea where we're going next weekend, but she did give me a lovely black and red Target journal today because I like writing.
Oh, hah. Okay. So. My mother's on a 6 month leave of absence from work because of my sister. I personally think she's not going back ever. But anyhow, she's out right now so I can write about her and not feel like a douche.
She borrowed about $2 grand from my grandpa, I think. At least, she's broke and made a $2000 car payment the other day because she was behind on it. And then she bought a new $850 flatscreen hdtv. What the ever-loving hell?
And back to last weekend, Creepy Stan. Creepy Stan is a semi-friend of my step-grandpa. He has a bad habit of dropping by constantly. In the day and a half I was dog-sitting, he stopped by 3 times. The third time, he had me come over to his place. He said something about taking pictures and moving... I wasn't listening. He has no digital camera, so he has Dean take pictures of stuff to sell online - I figured it was that.
No, it was moving pictures in frames to his new apartment. Only, he had me stand there and do nothing the whole time while he moved them. A waste of my time. And then he said he'll buy me dinner sometime to thank me for helping. Um, no. CREEPY.
Also, I didn't post proper yesterday, but I did want to thank
jezzabe for writing me
Mikeyway comment fic for my birthday!
The Matches - Violent LoveThis song makes me think of werewolves. The vocals are iffy, but I like it otherwise.
Katy Perry - Ur so GayI have had this song stuck in my head half the week and I want to have other people suffer with me. (But it's still better than the fucking Beatles song I had stuck in my head for a day and a half...)
ETA: Oh yeah!
Profanity perplexity
SOME unduly prim profanity filters are substituting "butt" for "ass" in texts, Dave Minter tells us, producing articles on the web about the "UN Buttembly" and the like.
We weren't convinced, so we went to a famous web search engine and keyed in the word "buttembly". It got 803 hits - and several of them seemed to be for entirely serious sites, like
http://immlaws.notlong.com where a learned historical discussion of laws on immigration into the US comes up with surprising statements like: "In response to the terrible conditions, the United States government pbutted the Pbuttenger Act of 1847 and 1855" and "In 1854, the New York Legislature issued a 'Protest against the Suffering of Emigrant Pbuttengers'". It also talks of a "Joint Resolution of the New York buttembly and Senate, pbutted 6 January 1854". We're still puzzled, though. Something is going on here, undoubtedly. But is the word "butt" really such an improvement on "ass" that a net filter would make this substitution?
Further searches reveal several sites devoted to discussing what is apparently known as "The Clbuttic Mistake". However, we're still not sure whether the responsibility lies with programming errors, programming mischief, or Minter's prim net filter. The fact that "consbreastution" is found more than 6000 times by that famous web search engine suggests, we think, the latter.
