Tutorial #3: Sakura

Jan 30, 2008 21:34

A fairly easy tutorial featuring Princess Sakura from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.

Going from
to

+ uses selective coloring
+ made in Photoshop CS2

Step 1
First, select your image and crop it to your liking. I used an image from the CLAMP 2008 calendar and got this:

Step two
Selective coloring time!
Now what I usually do is just fiddle around until I see something I like. For this icon I used these settings:
Red:
+ cyan -81
+ magneta: +68
+ yellow: + 63
Yellow:
+ cyan -95
+ magneta: +17
+ yellow: + 61
+ black -90
Cyan:
+ cyan -89
+ magneta: +86
+ yellow: + 70
White:
+ cyan -100
+ magneta: -48
+ yellow: + 67

Step 3
Duplicate the selective color layer (CTRL+J) and set it to Lighten, opacity 100%

Step 4
Add this texture by myrasis
Set it to screen 100% and erased a few of the brighter spots.
Make sure the texture is on top of your base layer, but bellow the selective color layers.

Step 5
Create a new layer (CTRL + Shift + N) on top of the other layers.
Select your canvas (CTRL+A)
Stroke your image with a white color (Edit>Stroke) Set the stroke to 3 pixels.
As a last touch a used a dotted borderbrush by wicked_avis in this color: # ff97c1

And you're done! Easy as pie.

I hope this was helpful, or at least understandeble. Feedback would be lovely
