Okay, so. July was rolling around, and I was still audience at the time. I forget how long I've been following the game, but I'd been active as audience and was on my third try apping someone. So I wrote two apps! Cuz I remember there being a camper round right after counselors and I said to myself "Damnit if I can't get in as a counselor I'm going to app this person" which.... I actually have the other app still saved in my personal journal lol.
But anyway, I couldn't think of who I wanted to app that I still had the canon from. So I brainstormed and was looking around my living room and looked at my bookcase, which is still right where it was back then. And I saw FAKE sitting there. I remembered how much I enjoyed it when I first got into it and thought "Hey, I'll give it a re-read" and did just that.
I...actually considered Ryo first, but at the time, I had been used to characters like Dee, so I went with him instead. I stressed over Dee's app and Ken betaed for me and I sent it in. And got in! ...and totally forgot about the camper I was going to app. |D
Dee quickly became a spamwhore and I decided that I would actually attempt to do his job after there was some IC interest, and... well. I've had him now for 10 months and he's my easiest to play, and is usually my primary. He's just easy to play and he's so retarded that I can play him at any time of the day cuz he doesn't take a lot of thought most of the time. What does that say about me personally? XD
There was a time that I considered dropping him, but that was over stupid stuff and I really wanted SOMEONE from his canon there because it was getting somewhat hard to play him being lonely and missing people but not saying it and...it was complicated.
But! Now that there's cast members in camp, I will never, ever drop Dee. Just the thought of it makes me depressed because he has so many really deep relationships with people and....yeah. He's just. Yeah. I love my shounentard wannabe. :|b
Tolle Koenig (athrowned)
After I got in with Dee, I sort of took a break with apping for a month or two. And I started following other characters in camp who Dee interacted with all the time, and...well. I kind of started stalking Yzak and Dearka. And totally fell in love with them and their players. And I wanted to see this awesome canon they came from because of GUNDAMS and ACTION and RETARDS and...yeah.
So then Yzak started uploading the episodes, and I decided to download them and finally watch. And I totally fell in love with Nicol and Tolle. Both of them made me cry when they died and I thought "Wow, they're really needed in camp".
I rewatched the series again on and off at that point and...actually apped Nicol! And I admit this because I am not going to app him again, so. XD My app bombed completely at that point, and I decided to app someone else.
At that point I had seen GSD, and actually considered going with Heine instead of Tolle. But I had gone back to read some Heine threads and when I realized that Heine had been in camp forever and it'd make things extremely awkward for people - not including myself - I kinda laughed and totally trashed the idea. So I apped Tolle instead, because hey! Miriallia was in camp and yeah.
So I wrote up an app up for him and it...ALMOST BOMBED. But I got in with him and it was so much fun! I had a character who had emo and issues but was happy otherwise and I got to work out a lot of things with him and he quickly (if albeit shortly) became my primary.
But I never had a good grasp on his voice, and after a while he quickly became a backburner character, to steal a word from Saku. And it upset me a little because I'd only bring him out for canon posts or people he knew and he wasn't meeting anyone else. For a while I tried to at least get him to meet all the Suiko cast (since he was friends with a few of them anyway) but...it didn't work out as well as I thought.
Then Miriallia dropped and uh... I didn't play Tolle at all after that. Maybe brought him out a few times, for this and that, but yeah. I was still having problems with his voice and I just... didn't have anything to do with him. There was only so much development I could give him before I'd be messing with canon and I didn't want to do that.
Then when I got Hiroshi and was pushing him to the side to force myself to play Tolle, I started considering dropping him. Because... it just wasn't really fair to only bring him out when he was needed, and I wasn't having fun anymore. And I was having fun with my other characters and I didn't want to keep a character I would only play with canonmates.
...and this is the first time admitting it publicly, but. I decided to drop him after talking with a few people and listening to their reasons for dropping their characters and...yeah. I had a lot of fun playing him when I did, but after a while, he's a hard character to maintain despite how happy he is. :/

So I am an apping fiend. And I had bombed during the counselor apps again, and I wanted to app someone who had an existing cast already in camp again. And .... I forget why I chose Gravitation at the moment. I had fun threading with Shuichi and Tatsuha and I wanted to join in on the fun even more, so... I watched Gravitation. |D
I'll admit; I re-watched it with the sole intentions of apping Hiro, because Shuichi needed his BFF in camp. And I... well. He wasn't my favorite character at the time, and since counselor apps were over, I couldn't app him. So yeah. I watched Gravitation and read some old threads...
...and realized the cast came from manga canon! lolz. TRUE STORY, I only read as much as I could of the scanlations and listened to the dramas when I was writing my app, because at the point, I really, really wanted Hiro.
As it turns out, Hiro was my most stressful app ever, because I knew it was a bad app despite having people beta it and I didn't think it'd get in, and uh... I was at a meetup when it went up, so I was up all night with Shuichi spazzing over votes and pretty much chainsmoking. And then I woke up and they told me I got in and uh... I think I died and went back to sleep. XDDD
Hiroshi became one of those characters who I'd bring out and toss into posts I wouldn't toss Dee into. He was also the type of character I wasn't used to playing, so it was fun figuring out how he'd react and talk and all that. And I have a lot of fun with him!
To top this off, a bit of advice: Always read your canon in its entirety before apping a character. |D

AND NOW, A STORY OF EVIL PEOPLE. I had been resisting reading ES21 because I'm not really the type to read manga online. I never have, and even when I was into Prince of Tennis and whatnot, I preferred watching the anime over reading the manga because... in all honesty, I'm a lazy mclazypants.
But the ES21 cast was awesome and I had a lot of fun playing with them as Dee. And... well, hold on, I think I still have the chat logs.

ANYWAY so yeah. I spent the next month writing my app, working on it, re-doing it, harrassing Mamori and Sakuraba about betaing more than once (they are godsends wtf) and... started thinking aobut what I'd do with him in camp which...is always good!
And then I got in with him and got my highest percentage ever and I am very glad I apped him cuz he's just...so totally different to play and I love him to death and I think it's safe to say that he's one of my favorite characters ever.
