[ You lucky viewers get to hear the sound first. The startled, breathy squeak that was supposed to be a shriek, but didn't quite leave her throat and get enough volume for that. And then the screen flickers on with a soft thump, and there's Rise.

... A very pale Rise with one pigtail missing. Well, okay, there's a part of it that's reaching her ear, but the rest of it is just gone. The other pigtail's intact, though now it looks more like she's sporting a side ponytail, and there's some off-camera cackling from none other than a Gengar. Rise shifts her eyes to that source, and in a very, very controlled voice that would usually mean IMPENDING DEATH-- ]
Ven. I've got your ghost.
[ a pause, in which she reaches up almost instinctively to twirl a pigtail that-- isn't there. ]
... And I need scissors.
[ she takes a deep breath. Just for a split second, her expression just crumbles, and she looks about ready to burst into tears. But then it's gone, and there's a sweet smile. ]
