48-Hour Book Challenge

Jun 07, 2009 06:48

Good morning! I wish I hadn't had to have quite so much sleep but today is a big day. I'm getting an award today. So, I'm going to be en route and thus updating from my phone until about noon. After which I'll have seven hours left so I imagine I'm going to be bearing down and reading like I've never read before.

Let's recap before I begin.

I'm 36 hours in with 12 hours left. I've read 1,387 pages between 5 books. I took a break yesterday to get lunch and a break for a friend's birthday party/Gone in 60 Seconds. (I multi-task.) I'll have a break this morning and hopefully that will be it. I haven't calculated my hours yet, but I think I've been pretty dedicated.

I'm getting ready to start All We Know of Heaven by Jacquelyn Mitchard (whom you might remember from Deep End of the Ocean). I will, right now, guarantee you that I will be bawling my eyes out. I can already tell you that. Also, I didn't mention this before, but I definitely cried in The Safe-Keepers Secret. When a book get's really emotional (good and bad) and is written well? Get's me every time.

Back to the novel at hand. Two teenage girls, best friends forever, are in a car accident. The extent of the damage is too sever to identify which of the girls survives. Um, tear-jerker waiting to happen.
