Lunar eclipse!
For anyone who's awake and in a part of the world where you can see it, there will be a lunar eclipse starting in about an hour. I really ought to get to bed early, cause I hardly got any sleep last night, so I don't know if I'll get to see it. But if it takes me forever to fall asleep again like it has been, I may get up and sneak a peek. :)
This reminds me, I was pondering whether the moon in my dark fantasy story should be white or red. The symbol of the Brethren is the crimson moonrise, and I'm currently leaning towards the idea that it should just be symbolic of their bloodthirsty ways. It would probably be more meaningful that way.
Now, I had originally created Sathiel, the anti-hero of my story, for Feudal Realms. And, in FR, there was a group of knights called the Order of the Lunarou. Sathiel had a rivalry with this group because, according to his history, it was they who invaded the Brethren's lair and captured Sathiel, leading to his execution. I'm not sure about the actual origins of the name, but Chapel, who built an area for Lunarou, said that Lunarou comes from Luna Rouge, red moon. I found it kind of interesting that there was that link between them and the Brethren, when I hadn't even known about it. And, later on, when Terloch added moons to the game, we found that there were actually three moons, one of them being red.
Of course, my story now takes place in a completely different world. It's almost too bad I can't have that Lunarou link, but oh well. I just found it to be a weird, but interesting coincidence. :)
As I've grown more attached to the crimson moon and its connection with my character and my story, I've gotten so excited every time I see a red moon in the sky. :) I know I've seen a lunar eclipse at least once before, and that time the moon was a very dark red. But, there have been a couple times when the moon was low in the sky, and it was this bright, pure red, which I just found awesome. :) I wish I could've taken a picture of it! Of course, I can just get lost staring at the moon... Definitely a moonchild.
