My brother had to write a poem as homework for his Gr. 11 English class. He was disgusted at the thought, because like me, he generally thinks poetry is emo and not "real writing". So to inspire him, I told him to write a poem as if it was a freestyle rap. I am going to share the first draft of what he came up with, because
misspaprika thinks
ninja_sheep and

The U.S. has a serious infection
In New Orleans
Nobody on the intersections
People filled with fear, draped in blood
No country has ever seen a 9/11, a war, a flood
Except this one with a man at the helm
The land seeming like a real-life hell
A liar, a cheater, a dictator
Instills lies, fear
Some might even call him an instigator
Of fear and lies
Couple of votes the other way, millions still alive
Who knew he'd be a modern-day devil
Unleashing terror in places
That didn't need him to meddle
Wearing the country's blood on his sleeve
I wonder how he sleeps
I'm hoping one day he'll just pack up and leave.
In case anyone is wondering, he says it is "free verse", which is why the rhythm and rhyme scheme are totally off. He also says the rhythm only works if he raps it instead of saying it. AHAHAHAHA! I think it's great art, personally. *solemn nod*
In other news, I'm listening to Melissa's single right now - yes, I bought it, shut up - and I am incredibly disappointed that the instrumental version isn't Instruments and Some Guy Broad, as I was expecting, but just cheap-sounding instrumentals with no Guy backups. That is sadness, yo. *bloody thumbs down!*
