I <3 Everwood, and Other TV Ramblings

Oct 09, 2004 03:44

Due to my uber-hectic schedule over the last few weeks, I fell behind on the two TV shows I actually watch on a fairly regular basis (well, two out of the three - The West Wing is obviously the third, but conveniently, it isn't premiering until October 20th). However, tonight I decided to sit down to try and catch up, and I ended up watching two ( Read more... )

e.r., tv, everwood

You love teenage shows because you want to bond with Kalan over them and be all like "Remember when Joey asked Dawson to... um... hee!" and like, seduce him. But just like Dawson, he'll say no. And he'll be baffled by your reference to the unsuccessful seduction scene and suddenly understand that you're crazy and he'll come and live in my kingdom*. And then you'll be angsty and you'll turn to your angsty teen-y shows for comfort and <3 them that much more.

See guy, I understand these things. I am King of Knowing Stuff. :D

And like, I'm totally amused at your Everwood love, because like, everyone knows that Everwood wishes it was The OC.

* I am also King of No Lying Liars Allowed Land. Affi is my queen. Hee.

*Fo' sho'! It's our land, guy. And all the best lands have kingdoms, so... Y:D (The Y is my crown.)

COOL! So what will my crown look like? I hope it involves an X or an M. I like those letters. *goofy grin*

Hahahahaha! Uh, XM:D? I'm not sure how to design X and M crowns. They aren't very crown-y letters. I don't know. Make your own goddamn crown. I'm the King, I don't have all day to dick around with crown designs. What does this look like? Some kind of imaginary kingdom where there's no work to be done and we can just nance around making crowns? Well I've got news for you, buddy. I have a job! *gets back to kingly duties*

Guy, honestly, that was the lamest sauce-attempt ever, because you obviously don't check your facts. Everwood is like, the farthest teen show from The O.C. on TV; the show on The WB that wants to be The O.C. (and Dawson's Creek, which I hated with a passion) is the ridiculous One Tree Hill. My students are addicted to that crap. Beh.

Every TV show that doesn't end in Idol wishes it was The OC. That's just a fact.

*snort x INFINITY*

Actually, American Idol DOES wish it was The OC, but that's because it's in the small category of shows that are at such a high level of lameness that they would rather be as sad as The OC. *smirk*

1. Saying that Everwood wants to be The O.C. has got to be the most uninformed statement about the show I have ever read. I mean, for starters, Berlanti is, like, wayyy more treacly and sentimental than Josh Schwartz ever could be. ;) So I concur with Yaz that this was a very lame attempt at saucing.

2. American Idol wishes it were The O.C.?!?! Hardly. AI has far more viewers and is much more of a pop-culture phenomenon. Seriously, man, that's like saying CI wishes it were Degrassi: TNG.

Actually, guy, you just kind of defeated your point #2, because in many ways, CI SHOULD wish it were Degrassi: TNG. As unimpressed as I am with the latter, it's gaining a ridiculous fanbase both here and in the U.S., and it's a growing, sustained fanbase, unlike the hype-and-then-it's-over fanbase of CI (unless Kalan breaks this trend).

In the same way, I think AI SHOULD wish it were The O.C., because as lame and cliched as I think the latter is, its stars have already built a more sustainable fanbase than most of the stars of the three seasons of AI. *smirk*
