LOG; it's only been five hours; ANGELINE + DANA

Aug 15, 2007 21:03

Thursday Afternoon. Shopping. Angeline and Dana haven't dropped yet.

Angeline laughed merrily, shifting the heavy weight of her bags from hand to hand. Now that Noah was gone, having claimed "tiredness" (bah, she said, bah), she was stuck carrying all the stuff she had purchased on this trip so far (which was a lot). She was probably going to end up maxing out the credit card that her parents had gotten her, but she didn't care. It was too much fun. She looked towards Dana, trying to see what she thought of the boy's abrupt departure.

"Wimp." Angeline rolled her eyes. "It's only been five hours."

"I think that he could have gone on for a bit longer, although I must say that I am surprised he lasted as long as he did without complaint."

Dana's load was significantly lighter than her companions; she had only been looking for a change of clothes or two and one very specific article of clothing. Her budget would be tighter in the coming months, and she really should be cutting back where she could.

Still, she was sure that she'd be alright for the next few months, and that was all that she needed. Dana could afford this, and it was something that she'd have to get done anyway. She'd indulge herself for this week- she could figure out a better plan after that.

"We can go to drop things off at the car if you would like. I do not expect to quit anytime soon."

"Well, he's more fun to shop with then my cousins at least~They bitch and complain all the time, even about carrying only a few measly bags~" Angeline hopped from one foot to another (she just couldn't stand still), and nearly dropped a bag.

"Oops~" she giggled, not precisely bothered by this, except that these were her new boots, and she didn't want to damage them by dropping them.

"I think that would be a good idea~" her hair fluttered a bit in the wind, golden ornaments chiming. "Hm~I think I know some stores that could possibly carry something that...special...~"

"Well, as far as my cousin is concerned, I get more complaints about how many things I ask him to try on. I cannot help but think that he would rather have just been along only to help carry."

She had always found such excursions enjoyable. She was decent at estimating people's clothing sizes, but it really wasn't quite the same. It had been years since- no. The last time had been for the wedding, and before that, it had been years.

It really had been a nice tuxedo.

"I have a few places in mind as well. And if all of it fails, I can always have it made, but this way is more interesting, is it not?"

"Oh, of course~" Angeline smiled cutely and evilly. It was really a bit odd, the cute evil smile. "It's no fun to take the easy way out~Besides, you'd miss out on all the other pretty things and just looking and stuff~And walking around helps keep a girlish figure, too~"

"And you cannot honestly say that you have combed the city looking for something unless you actually have combed the city for it."
It was oddly nice, if a bit melancholy, to have free time on her hands again. But there was no way to take back what she had done.

"And it is true that I could use the exercise. Today is a lovely day for it."

"It is." Angeline looked around. It really was a pretty, pretty day. "And shopping is so relaxing, too~"

"It really is quite pleasant."

The morning had been as blissfully thoughtless as she had hoped it would be, never mind the fact that they had been exchanging blows only two weeks before.

Or rather, Angeline had hit her. Dana knew that Angeline had a point, and that she had rather deserved the blow, but she couldn't help but think that the situation was still rather uneasy.

She had been startled to see that Angeline was carrying Froggy in her purse that morning- although it had only been that month that she returned the doll, it was still strange to see someone carrying it around.

Dana wondered, idly, if the blood stains still remained.

It really was quite interesting that they were passing time so pleasantly, especially considering everything and their opposing sides and all. But then, it was fun for a few hours not to think of blowing up the world, even though that was quite fun, too. Idly, she petted Froggy's head: the green frog plushie poked his head out of her purse, and it was a tribute to the size of her purse that Froggy even fit into it. If Dana would look carefully, there was a hint of blood still on him. It was morbid, but Angeline hadn't cleaned off the blood- yet another thing she had left of her sister.

"Oh, yes~And it's even more fun when there are huge sales and things get all crazy~"

"Hectic, but nice in its own way. Yes, it is rather enjoyable."

Dana shifted the one package she was carrying to her other hand; while she could consolidate everything she had bought into that one bag, the straps dug into her fingers.

"It would be nice to do things like this more often."

It wasn't as if she didn't have the time. And even if it was only window shopping, it would definitely be therapeutic.

"Oh, it would~"

Angeline managed to shove some of her smaller packages into one bag. Froggy watched her with his glass eyes. "And certainly entertaining~Though my parents wouldn't like it too much~"

"Well, I suppose that shopping like this weekly would be a bit of a strain on the budget, but it feels good to spend a day on yourself. To break up the tedium that every day life can take on."

Dana had the suspicion that that was the primary reason that Noah had agreed.

"Today feels like a break long overdue."

"Oh, yes~" Angeline absently pulled Froggy a little more clear of her purse, the green frog showing a little more out of her purse, as she juggled bags.

"Though how long the peace may last, no one knows~"

"It is nice while it lasts."

So the blood was still there.

Dana supposed that it would have been difficult to remove them by this point, but it looked like there hadn't been any attempt at all.

Well, she had done the same.

As she moved, Froggy dropped back down into the purse. Ariel would have protested and hauled him out again, because 'Froggy doesn't like it in bags', but Angeline didn't like Froggy that much, Ariel's or no. "

Yes, but the storm is exciting, too~"

There had been no attempt, really.

"It is significantly less exciting if you have to clean up afterwards."

Well, she wouldn't be doing that anymore. But Angeline didn't need to know it- it wasn't something that she wanted to speak about, at any rate.

Dana glanced up, surveying the sky.

"At least today is sunny.'

"Well, true, but I won't ever have to~" Angeline gestured a bit. "It would really suck if it was raining~"

"Wouldn't it? It was lucky that the weather obliged."

With the observatory gone, the predictions had become much less reliable.

"Or maybe my talisman helped, after all."

Angeline didn't quite give a damn about the predictions being much less reliable-in fact, she was looking forward to throwing theatrical fits about her hair being ruined should it rain unexpectedly.

"Maybe~ Every little bit of good luck counts~"

"It really does. We should take advantage of it while it lasts."

Dana fingered the mini-umbrella nuzzled in her purse, fitting snugly next to her taser. Good luck and an ounce of prevention.

"Actually, there is a restaurant that I have been meaning to visit. Are you free for lunch on Sunday, or so?"

Angeline tilted her head. Well, she had been planning to go out to a bar, again, on Sunday (the last time had been fun~ But score, free food~ Food she didn't have to pay for was always good, at that mainly decided it. "Yeah, I'm free~"

Good.

Dana had missed the restaurant, it really had been years since she had last ate there, though the catering at the hotel was still exquisite.

The awkwardness she had associated with the place had diminished over the years; it was just that she couldn't bear the idea of eating there alone.

"Then I can make the reservations for then. I hope French is alright with you."
