I just finished watching all of "Freaks and Geeks," the one-season 99-00 hour-long drama set in suburban Michigan in 1980. For those of you who haven't seen it, it's a great show. Well written, well acted, well shot, funny where it's meant to be. It also has early-career turns by James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Jason Segel ( Read more... )

X-Files. Not necessary the spacey Angelo Badalamenti synth stuff, but the occasional Screamin' Jay Hawkins piece.

Yeah, I'm with you on that.

If you haven't seen Freaks and Geeks, check it out. I think you'd like it. Give it 3 episodes.

I always felt that Alias had especially well chosen music. To this day, I will still hear songs on the radio and remember exactly what scene they go with in Alias.

But I have watched the series about 3 or 4 times.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll have to finally check that show out. I tried watching it when it was on the air a few times, but it never made any sense. I've heard that it's one of those shows where you have to start at Episode 1 or you'll be Lost.

You do have to start at the beginning, it's true. Seasons 1, 2, and 5 are AMAZING. Season 4 is good, and Season 3 is very hard to get through (for me). But Season 5 is probably my favorite, so I'd say it's worth it.

But yeah, it won't make sense if you don't watch it in order. There's a bit of mystical shit to it, so be prepared. Other than that, I really enjoyed the character dynamics on the show. Will Tippin is probably my favorite character.

I own the entire thing. The only other spy show that I like is Burn Notice, because I like my spies to be competent. Sidney Bristow is seriously good at her job, and I appreciate that. I was going to watch that new show, Covert Affairs, but I watched a trailer for it and I'm just not sure. I don't have a lot of free time, and I hate shows where I feel like I know how to do their job better than they do.
