Facebook and LJ and Me and the Future

A few years ago, someone e-mailed me some pictures, and the only way for me to look at them was to join Facebook. I had been through this kind of thing before with other sites, and I didn't wanna play, so I didn't join. But this kept happening over and over, so I finally relented and joined under my usual online identity: Resk Le Teveque ( Read more... )

heh, I was thinking similarly. I haven't deleted mine, but I can't recall the last time I heard of someone joining facebook & not quitting it.

I know TONS of people who joined facebook and have no intention of quitting it. These are not LJ people, though. They're friends and schoolmates from different parts of my life who have never experienced the kind of expansive community that used to exist here.

I have never joined Facebook (even under a character name for a game I wrote for) and I have no intention of doing so. Facebook can bite my shiny metal ass.

Agree that Facebook is entirely a**. Sadly, it's the only easy way for a virulent hater of the phone to easily keep in touch with far-flung friends and relatives. I miss intelligent discourse and FB only makes it worse. And then the seemingly unending foibles with privacy issues . . .

I spend my working life on the phone. With rare exception, I do not wish to spend the roast of my life on it.
