Great Plains

"The Great Plains are the broad expanse of prairie, steppe and grassland which lie west of the Mississippi River and east of the Rocky Mountains in the United States and Canada. This area covers parts of the U.S. states of Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming . . ." so speaketh Wiki P. Edia.

"So, where is your original store?" said I to Woman Behind Counter at Great Plains Burger Company in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

"Oh," says WBC, "This isn't a franchise. This is the only location."

RESK: This didn't originate in Nebraska or Kansas or somewhere?

WBC: No, this is the first one.

RESK: Shouldn't it be called the Great Lakes Burger Company? I mean, we're in the Great Lakes, not the Great Plains.

WBC: They explain it on the statement on the menu. Here you go.

The statement:Our nation's Great Plains symoblize a straightforward, no-nonsense, genuine spirit that is uniquely American. Great Plains Burger Company stands for exactly the same thing-honesty. We're all about honesty. Honest-to-goodness ingredients and a real committment to serving up the best burgers, fries, and shakes in town. Great Plains Burger Company. Just. Plain. Better.
You haven't convinced me, Great Plains Burger Company. If anything, the typos on the mission statement on your website make me think less of you. Not only that, but I'm sure I could change just a few words in that statement and make Great Lakes work just as well or even better than Great Plains. What I couldn't do is prevent people from thinking that Great Lakes Burger Company sold fish burgers.

Let's face it. People are idiots. They see "Lakes" and "Burgers" as part of your company's title, and they're gonna think "fish burgers." In light of that, I propose that you change your name to something else entirely. I'm fresh out of ideas, GPBC, but maybe some of my live journal friends can help you out. GOOD RUCK!
