5th Feather ~ Needs Law

I had been considering bringing this up earlier, despite the lack of trouble with residents here...but it seems I should have before now anyway.

In light of recent events, it looks like it would be prudent to set up some kind of law enforcement here in Paradise.

Up until now, anything resembling a law seems to have been unspoken.

I'm not the only person who found the murder of a resident to be unacceptable, so basic things like that should be fine.

Any others will have to be decided by as much of the city as a whole as possible.

I don't pretend to know how that will go.

Considering the fact that several of the residents here are far from human, saying that someone killing Miku was murder is not exaggeration. She had thoughts, memories and feelings the same as any of the other people here. If she can be repaired, then there's still the possibility that something in her character may be affected.

Whether killing a toaster is murder would completely depend in this case.

If you can just recreate the memories and experiences and frendships she made then you're welcome to do so...otherwise don't presume that she's not as irreplaceable as anyone else here.

The need for law enforcement is not a matter of finding her murderer and killing him, it's a matter of protecting other people from being hurt or killed simply because someone decides they need to die.

Considering that people lived here with no deaths for quite a long time and were upset by this one, I'm inclined to think that more than you think will be somewhat open to it.

If you're not one of them then don't interfere.

If laws are put in place then they will affect everyone. It's your choice whether to abide by them.

That says little when the children are apparently smarter and more mature than most of the adults.

[Notice, Satoshi's tone has been rather flat and emotionless the entire conversation.]

[You didn't really just come in to say that did you? Really?]

And that has what to do with this situation?

You should be nicer~ Maybe the grown-ups would take you seriously then!

And hmmm, maybe not so much~ I was just a little bored.

So you're saying that being nice to a person who compares killing a sentient robot with thoughts and feelings to killing a toaster would suddenly make things nicer?

If you're bored then find something else to do.
