Yesterday and today have been uber weird.

My mom is a realtor and she was at her office the other day and this chinese man and his son come in and say they want to buy a house that day so that the son has a place to stay while he goes to college. They had just come from the place where the father bought the son a Mercedes car and now he wanted to just buy him a house. They thought they could just charge it on a credit card. So my mom said that she could show them some places the next day. She finds him a house the next day but he can't get in until the next day and for some reason, despite having the cash to buy him a car and pay for the down payment for a house, he didn't have anywhere to stay for the night, the father was leaving for San Francisco. So my mom offered him to stay the night on our couch. He barely spoke any english and had never been to America before and his father just drops him off and then leaves him at a stragers house. So for the past two days, my mom has been taking him everywhere, teaching him how to pump gas, how to use his appliances, took him to the grocery store. I am on the anti-social side and I just thought the whole situation was just too odd so I confined myself to my room most of the time he was here. Sure, it was probably rude, but my mom kept him entertained. Then today he came back while my mom went to open house and it was just him, myself and my dad. Now, my dad is like me and isn't the most easy to talk to and he was wrapped up in some golf tournament so he wasn't being social. I just kind of stood there awkwardly for a while and then escaped back to the safety of my room. I was just starting a movie when all of a sudden our power goes out and it didn't come right back on. My dad starts freaking out because he's missing his golf and I'm laughing because of course this would happen when my dad has some big golf thing he wants to watch and I'm sure most of this was lost in translation on our chinese friend. He ended up going out on our deck for pretty much the whole two hours until my mom came back. Then she took him to his new house and I could finally relax. Eventually we got the power back on and my dad stopped having a panic attack and all went back to normal. However, my mom told this kid (well, actually he's 25 so he's not really a kid) that she would be his second mom over here so I doubt this is the last we'll see of our temporary house guest. But I still just think the whole thing was just awkward and weird.

not cool, parentals, say what?, laughs, drama, weird beard, random, things that make me nervous, oy vey, stories, this is me being awkward
