the only thing i think at a wedding is "huge mistake"
Is there anything worse than a wedding or baby shower? I really don't think there is. I had to go to a wedding shower today and I seriously don't get it. Let's get a bunch of crazy women together, open boring presents like mixers, toasters, towels and ironing boards, chat about marriage and kids while you watch already married mothers run after their bratty tots. I swear if I hear another toddler start crying over the drop of a pin I will smack a bitch.
So as I'm trying to plaster a fake excited look on my face to mask the indifference I'm really feeling, my moms friend from church says something to the effect of can't my mom wait for when I get married? I look over and go "I don't want to get married" and she goes "you just mean not any time soon" and I say "no, I mean like never". She gives me this horrified look like I just told her that the devil was her neighbor and then my mom decides to do damage control and tells her "oh she just says that now, just wait until some guy comes along..." and I stop her and say "ew, no there is no way that is going to happen, that grosses me out". My mother knows I don't want to get married, she knows my views on marriage and kids so I'm assuming she just didn't want me to embarrass her in front of the fragile minds of the church folk. However I don't see why that makes other womens head explode at the thought that perhaps not every woman wants to marry some lame ass guy and pop out some kids.
Uh, showers always do this to me.
