My downtown woke up to 4 1/2 feet of water this morning, two people were hospitalized for hypothermia. The dumb part is that I had several customers today who were astonished that it flooded at all. Our town floods an average of twice every winter, usually not as bad as today, but still - this is not new. A large creek goes through downtown, it overflows, and whoosh it's a lake. The other thing that annoyed me about those people is that 40 miles north of us, where my boyfriend lives, the water was so high that people were being evacuated from their homes by boat and heliocopter. People are escaping from their homes, the roads and highway are closed off, and everything is underwater. And you're obsessing about one street just because it's in your town? Two words yuppies -
New Orleans.
So be grateful and enjoy your New Year :D Here's something
beautiful that happens every winter, from our torrential rains. And
something else that happens in storms.
p.s. the selfish part of this 'natural disaster' is that there will be no boyfriend this weekend.
