Change of Plans
Well.
So, I'm not ordering my Popodoll.
With a very good reason.
On the exact day that I was due to order little Rosalind, I made a decision. We have roughly 13 dolls in the house, if you count the two that aren't home yet. That's a lot of resin. And yet, the last time I did a photoshoot (a real one) was...months ago, largely due to my frustration with my photos. So. Instead of ordering 300-400 worth of resin and accessories, I bought 300 worth of camera and supplies. I am now the VERY proud owner of a Sony CyberShot, 10 megapixel digital camera.
Doll people, you need this camera, if you don't have an awesome one already. Here's why.
1. It's relatively inexpensive. $279 from Best Buy, or $229 on sale if you're lucky- if you can save up for a CP boy or a DOT girl, you can save for this camera!
2. For the price tag, it's a great camera. Hell, my big camera (the SLR I've been using for my 'pretty' photos, which I borrow from a sister) isn't as easy to use, and it's a $1600 camera! Picture quality is VERY good. It isn't an SLR, but it has a wide range of manual settings if you want to get adventurous.
3. It's fast. My hands shake badly, and my photos are constantly blurred, even with a tripod. This camera is instant-click; I'm even having no trouble taking pictures of animals and people who move constantly. (For reference, I'm on scene mode, ISO setting- which seems to be the default.)
4. It takes those same fast photos even in crappy low light settings, like in a house with the blinds closed, no extra lamps...or dimly lit restaurants. You heard me.
5. The zoom (10x optical) isn't awesome for getting close to doll faces...but you can literally put the camera 3-4 inches away, and take perfect detail shots. It's AMAZING.
6. Pictures are HD quality, and it has HD video capability as well.
7. Easy-to-use menu and interface, AND IT HAS A BATTERY YOU PLUG IN TO RECHARGE.
