Mikoto: Tell me a story, papa! <3
Yasuo: *smiles* Alright. Once upon a time there lived a woodcutter and his wife. One day the wife came across a peach floating in the river. She thought that it looked tasty and brought it home for her husband to eat.
Mikoto: Was it a tasty peach?
Yasuo: *chuckles* No one knows, Mi-chan. For before they could eat the peach it turned into a baby boy.
Mikoto: . . . but babies don't come from peaches!
Yasuo: *smiles* This one did, and do you know what the man and his wife called him?
Mikoto: *shakes head* Mmm mmm, what?
Yasuo: Momotaro.
Yasuo: Momotaro grew to be very strong and brave, and one day he decided to go on an adventure. "I'm going to the Ogre's Island," he said to his parents, intending to become rich off the Ogre's treasure. His parents
made him some dumplings for the journey.
Mikoto: Mmmm, dumplings! That was nice of them! :D
Yasuo: Yes, it was, Mi-chan.
Mikoto: Would you make me dumplings if I went to Ogre Island?
Yasuo: *chuckles* Of course, Mi-chan. Where was I . . . oh, yes, then Momotaro started on his journey. Along the way he met up with a monkey.
"Kia, kia," cried the monkey, and he asked where Momotaro was heading.
"To the Ogre's Island to carry off the treasure," Momotaro replied.
The monkey spied the dumplings Momotaro was carrying and agreed to accompany him if he would share. Momotaro agreed and so the two continued to the Ogre's Island.
Mikoto: Sharing is good! Momo-chan and Saru-chan must be good friends :D
Yasuo: *smiles* The very best.
"Ken, ken, ken," Momotaro came upon a pheasant next--
Mikoto: What's a peasant?
Yasuo: A pheasant is a type of bird, Mi-chan. Do you know what the pheasant did?
Mikoto: . . . what?
Yasuo: Like the monkey he agreed to accompany Momotaro for a dumpling. Then the happy trio set out once
more. And who do you think they ran into?
Mikoto: . . . a-an ogre?
Yasuo: Not quite yet, Mi-chan. No, next they ran into a dog. "Bow, wow wow!" the little dog cried, and once again Momotaro parted with a dumpling.
Mikoto: Momo-chan has lots of friends now ♥
Yasuo: Indeed!
Mikoto: Now is there Ogres?
Yasuo: Yes, now Momotaro and his friends reached the Ogre's Island. They stormed the castle to attack the ogres.
Yasuo: The ogres were feirce and ferocious. "Raawwwrrr," they were prepared to fight back against Momotaro and his companions.
Mikoto: . . . I don't like ogres, they're scary . . . . Is Momo-chan okay?
Yasuo: Of course! Momotaro and his friends defeated the Ogres and won their treasure. Then Momotaro returned to his parents and they lived happily ever after.
Mikoto: Oh, I like that ending. Momo-chan was brave! When I get big and brave I'll go fight ogres for you, papa!
