So once again it has been a while.. but perhaps I will try to write in here once a month or something, keep it regular! By the way, the weather here is gorgeous, mild springtime weather! Yeah, in January and February. I know!
Exciting new things:
1. Goddess circles! I have started attending these amazing ceremonies, on full and new moons. They are so refreshing and healing and wonderful. I think I am meant to be pagan! I wish I could go to this Imbolc ceremony tonight but unfortunately I double booked myself and didn't realize it until too late.
2. Music! I have been jamming most of the time, at least once a week but sometimes more! I like banging on things/percussion. I have a marching band which is the best thing ever and I have never been in a band before.. or really jammed that much before. I have been playing uke still on my own, but as far as marching band goes, we have a trombonist, several drums and shakers, plus sometimes and accordion, sometimes a fiddle.. we are mostly untrained musicians, and we often try to get bystanders involved (since we have extra instruments!). We make a ruckus and it's always a good time! Marching band.. we have actually been getting together weekly since the fall (aside from xmas break)!
Tonight we are having an instrument making party, because on saturday there is something else exciting...
3. No 2010! Anti-olympics stuff! On Saturday, there is a big party downtown called "The Olympic Party is Almost over: Evict Vanoc!" We are getting down there with all the drums and everything ,and we are going to make one heck of a ruckus. When the torch relay came to town, our marching band played as the crowd marched for almost 5 hours! Most people thanked us and were so grateful, and said the music gave the crowd their energy for the long march.
Other than that.. I have been enjoying myself, living in this little suite with my sweet, taking three classes.. I am so good at my job that I think I'm the boss' fave, I even got my first raise ever recently! (by 1$/hour!) I work about three days a week, go to school a couple, and it works out really nice. Had my first midterm today, in math.. and basically, math and stats are the two easiest classes of all times, I thought I was being tricked or something.. like seriously, how does this just keep getting easier and easier? I thought it was supposed to keep getting harder, not the other way around!!
Anyway, I have been thinking a lot about best friends from high school times... thinking about their awesome influences on me and basically, how that period of my life has shaped this one. I am also taking an economic history of north america class. It's really interesting, my first history class since high school. I have since been thinking about how hard it is to seperate the present from the past.. the present is on course trajectory of the past.. I sometimes wonder how it would be possible to shape the ideal society given all this long history and deeply entrenched views. It's easier to pretend the history doesn't matter when you don't know anything about the history.
