what a frickin great day!!
I won't go into too much detail, but I went on a farm tour at
Madrona farm this morning and bought some fresh veg (beets, chard, garlic, patty pans) and I just made the best meal I have ever made!
- fry up over medium heat some garlic, onion and beets, add the patty pans (I'd never heard of these before but they taste similar to zuccini)
-Add some soy sauce (braggs)
-when that's cooked enough for your liking (still a bit firm), add the beet greens and chard plus some more garlic (in total I used a full bulb of garlic)
Put on top of rice or noodles (I used instant egg noodles from the asian section of the store) and top with chopped pecans, almonds and goat cheese
OH MY GOD it's delicious!
All day I have been having the best time, playing my brand new uke, cooking up a storm.. I made some yogurt for the first time! So exciting, it's really easy too:
- heat one litre of milk in a double boiler over low heat covered until it reaches 75 degrees celicius
- cook at that temperature for about half an hour
- remove from heat and allow to cool to about 40-45 degrees
- add 2 Tbsp yogurt (probiotic, unpasteurized) and let sit in a warm place for 4-6 hours
That's it!
I also planted my poor sad tomato plants which were all root bound.. and then cooked that frickin amazing meal!
Me and Steve are going to make some popcorn and watch evil dead, which I have never seen before. Then I also have tomorrow off work because I'm walking in the gay pride parade with CFUV (the university radio station)! We are all dressing like superheros, it's going to rock!
I feel so good after that meal. Seriously, try it.. easy, delicious, awesome, fun.
