work is still work. i did directly disobey my good friend and head teacher on thanksgiving, she was pissed. it was all over teaching preschool...
4 and 5 yearolds by the way, if you dont know any you should, are my new favorite people. and its very possible that im deluding myself, but i think that i could be really happy teaching in that age group. anyway, the preschool teacher, jennifer, has a full time aid who doesnt speak english. so when jenny is gone im the one to usually teach the class as i was jennifer's aid before laurita was hired. jenny had been planning to be gone, to san antonio for the thanksgiving weekend and she had asked me to teacher her class, per usual. so when, on the morning in question, my head teacher miss lucy told me that katia was covering for jennifer and that i would be in 4th grade (katias usual morning class), katia decided she was just being herself and trying to run the show even though we'd already worked everythng out with the preschool head teacher, hilda.
long story short, everything is cool now and that being the only drama things are back to normal. the kids just finished english exams this week and so katia and i were decorating the school for christmas, grading homework, classwork, and tests, filling out gradebooks, and teaching for the 3rd and 4th grade teacher whos just at the end of her first trimester.
we are also tutoring for two hours a day after school and babysitting on the weekends for extra cash, which brings me to my second story.

yesterday i went to the walmart and costco in querétaro with a close friend of ours, kim, who teaches 5th and a childhood friend of kim's chilean husband, andrea. all of the kids were in the car as well, two 18 month olds and one of my favorite 4 year olds, jasper. on the trip we all realized that katia and i were babysitting jasper's best friend from school, bruno, and his sister sophie that night at the house next door to andrea's where kim and her husband carlos would be at a party. so later on that night carlos arives at the house bruno's house and dropes jasper off to play and he goes to the party next door at andrea's. katia and i put on a movie and i took jasper next door to his dad when it was over while katia got the other two kids tucked into bed. when i finnaly break in to the mansion (not to be confused with maison, this place is huge up on a hill with the most incredible view of the city below) with jasper im invited to stay for a beer, which i do inorder to be polite. all of the people at this small gathering, just to set the stage for what is comming next, are friends of carlos and andrea subsequently all south american. they were also all in thier thirtys. so the conversation turns to the presidency of hugo chavez, for the second time that day no less, and wether or not hes becoming a dictator. despite the fact that it was amazing to be able to take advantage of one of the few times i get to socialize only in spanish, and with a bunch of south americans, it ultimately was disappointing because some people there felt the need to make the difference in our age an issue.
conclusion: i need to be living somewhere with a better social scene, and the farther you let yourself get from a university environment, the more you suck.
