another short update, on the weekend
this weekend was awesome! i missed bladi on thursday night, sucka didnt check his email so on friday after still having not heard from him i just decided to hoof it on over to his hotel. he wasnt there but you will never guess (sternsy this is for you) who is travel buddy/roommate is (was). Dr. Tom Jenkins of the Trinity University Clasics department answered the door! after bladi got back he, tom, and i went to chill in the jardin near their hotel until it started to rain, a daily occurence here in guadalajara. of course they didnt really believe me that we needed to get inside somewhere before the worst of it started to come down and we ended up trapped in a 7/11 with a bunch of people for an hour before we decided to make the trekk accross the road which had become a river to sanborn's (sigrid i figured you would appreciate this: tom, bladi, and i in a sanborns and all i could think about was el vampiro de la colonia roma, im terrible i know)
saturday was a total slack off day, i was supposed to write an essay but put it off till sunday at 8:30. that night i was supposed to meet tom and bladi after the theater with a friend of my from class, derrick, at a gay bar called las mascaras. i ended up meeting almost the entire rest of the class before hand and ran into the mess of "the group consensus". when we all finally arrived i realized it was not my kind of place (too clubby) and that bladi and tom were no where to be found, however i just did not have the energy to move the group so while everyone else went to shake they asses katia and i sat and discussed not profit work and listened from the balcony to a realy great live music group performing on the street below. most everyone wanted to go home early which was for the best and on our way home katia, derrick, edina, and i stopped at several more bars and did a little research for future excursions.
sunday several of us took a trip to the town of tequila to visit the jose cuervo distilary, it was cool but there is not much more to say than tequila. lots of tequila. sunday night i wrote my essay, most of which i made up off the top of my head (i ended up with a 90% though, and as most of you know that is more than good enough for me)
this morning i tought at 8am and due to my busy weekend i didnt have my materials prepared. the lesson went fine (9.69) but i got docked for having to make charades cards while teaching and not getting my superlatives game board completed.
anyway so much for a short update. im going to be making some phone calls today so have your phones on. is lauras really not working (though im not really surprised), will someone wish her a happy 23rd for me?
