In-Character Information
Name: Gardevoir, aka Voile
Game/Series: Pokémon; Generation 3 (Emerald)
Age & Grade Level: 16; Junior

Personality:
Naturally defensive, protective, caring, and empathetic, Voile represents the Gardevoir in good form. She’s very caring, very thoughtful and generous, and understanding of most situations and people experiencing them. She can be nurturing and motherly, even in spite of her young age, which often crosses the border of protective nature. All things are good in moderation, however, she doesn’t always have this at the forefront of her mind. She holds her heritage responsible for that form of behaviour, however, rather than her personal preference.

Not quite socially inept, she’s more interested in listening to others, rather than actively participating in conversation. It’s not to say she’s incapable of it, but perhaps due to her background, she’s become more accustomed to listening than she has to speaking. She thrives on knowledge, deems it useful and a valuable asset, entirely for purely righteous reasons as opposed to other. Voile carries herself with a reserved demeanour, not for the benefit or means to impress her peers, but more based on a personal preference.

Her quiet nature can make her come across as aloof. She may portray herself as standoffish, but it’d be unintentional. Her moments of juvenile happiness are rare, few and far between, but savored. Voile has a very secretive side that relishes in childlike antics. It’s something that very few get to see and only those closest to her would have the idea. To the rest of the world, she can be respectable and perhaps even to the point of predictability.

Backstory:
Caught from the point when she was a Kirlia, she lived in Lilycove City, initially for the companionship of a younger trainer who lacked the appropriate friends and surrounding peers. Voile grew close to her trainer, even when she reached the stage where she was given the opportunity to evolve. Once she did, she placed a foot into the door of contests and competition.

Perhaps in contradiction with her personality, her time on the stage did not last long. While her desire to support her trainer to the best of her ability was great, Voile’s reserved nature made it very difficult to properly portray herself. Certainly not a great competitor, she acquired only a couple of ribbons she deemed as trivial before she removed herself from the great world of fancy accessories and performance. It was after that in which she wanted to dedicate her time fully to her trainer, who was quickly growing into an intelligent adolescent.

For the very benefit of Voile, her trainer gave her something precious, something that would hopefully complete the missing pieces to the growing Gardevoir. Freedom, liberation, and the proverbial wings that would propel her toward the future. A conflict lied within the ideal, however. How could a creature so accustomed to living a domesticated life be put into the world where she would need to relearn things all over again? Voile had only the gifts of her kind to help her along. Concerned for herself and for her trainer, she was reluctant to accept the kindness and consideration.

She was ultimately convinced, however, and with a farewell that could have been defined as tearful, she parted ways with her trainer and set out into the world of Hoenn, unsure of where she would even begin. The entire world awaited her. She could step in any direction. She simply had to find herself.

Then she learned of the academy, something that made her think of a miraculous world in a book. Believing it to be legend, and the fascinating rumour that Pokémon could take on a human form, Voile was quick to pursue. If she could return to Hoenn in that form, she would find her trainer and offer the type of friendship that she couldn’t have previously. Even in the end, an action that could have been read as selfish was more for someone else than it was for her.

But all the same, Voile was anxious to get on the very road of finding the legendary power to change her form.

♥ And then Voile left and came back... ♥

Age (If there is a change): 17 (She should be a high school senior by this time.)

Canon point changes: N/A
Additional history that happened since the last application (their history at the school before they left, what happened and caused them to return):

Voile mostly got along with everyone. When she wasn’t in classes, helping plant flowers in the greenhouse, or generally studying, she was working with Cyrus on his class curriculum. She was not officially appointed as one, but Cyrus had requested her additional aid to be his teaching assistant.

At one point, Voile was concerned that her growing feelings for Cyrus-who all but constantly beat them down with his proverbial broom of logic and ‘perfection’-that she decided to return to Lilycove for a period of time in hopes of strengthening the adoration she had for her trainer. Believing that her ability to take on a human form would have her trainer recognise her love for him failed and her feelings wound up as unrequited as those simply hinted at with Cyrus. To only further the salt in the wound, her trainer released her to avoid any future awkward tension between them.

She returned to the academy somewhat half a shell of the Gardevoir she started out being, but with thanks to Knuckles, Tails, Mint, Mesprit, Cyrus, Giovanni, and others, she managed to find a happy medium. With some additional time passing, Voile began to remotely pursue her feelings for Cyrus who was rather emotionally stunted and incapable of providing her with an appropriate reciprocation.

The second departure was longer and one she would’ve thought to be permanent. She returned to Lilycove in spite of the idea that she was lacking a trainer. Instead, she became a ‘poster child’ for Lilycove’s costume contests, participated freely (by utilising her human transformation), and even when she’d accumulated a good number of ribbons she realised that she still felt empty.

Humans said home was where the heart was. She didn’t know where her heart was, but she had a suspicion she could find clues to its location, and she at least knew of people who could help her locate it. The only other place she’d been to was the academy and returning there was going to be the first direction to head in.

Personality Changes (ie, some characters grow are are different based on where they are taken from. Please write down any changes in personality compared to the first app):

There are no real grand differences in Voile. She is as caring, as nurturing, as kind hearted as she was previously. Differences are minor, however. She certainly grew more jaded when she returned from Lilycove the second time.

Her relationship with Cyrus, through all of its ups and downs, has made her more than a little serious. She’s not quite as trusting as she used to be and she’s not quite as ‘happy-go-lucky’ as she once was either. Her polite etiquette has yet to change, though, and she is as focused on others as she has always been.

One could say that she is so selfless for the sake of escaping from her own problems. Which could be contrived as being selfish.

Anything Else?:

-Moveset: Teleport, Calm Mind, Psychic, Future Sight
-She constantly wears her hair over one eye, but she switches between the two. This may be defensive.
-Because her normal form is very similar to human, she will probably take to human form very easily.
-The spikes naturally a part of her face when transformed into a human will likely look more like winged hair pieces. (As that seems to be a popular portrayal.)
-She will sound older than she actually is.
-Although her name is French and the original name of her kind is derived from French, she will have no particular accent that is easy to pick up. She will, however, articulate her words carefully, as though Common was a second language for her.
-It’s not a far stretch to say she’s in love with her trainer, even if she may not talk about him much.
