I've been a sucker for song-fic since about 1999. This is pretty much the most embarrassing thing I can tell you about myself. I mean, that and the fact that I got a C+ on a essay today. Here's what you can do to get your very own C+:
- Write the paper in under two hours.
- Don't do the reading.
- Do not edit for grammar or content.
- Be a second-semester Senior in college.
- Possess an over abundance of academic hubris.
Well, goodly done, self! I was/am so ashamed that I sat in the back of the class today. Justin handed back my paper early, and said, "I'm giving this to you now because I didn't want to see your reaction in public." Later in the day he called me sweetie. He also forgave me my terrible work, but reminded me that I couldn't just hand him any old tripe that I wanted and expect a good grade. He's right, of course. It's been a heck of a day. I did drink half a liter of beer, though. That was kind of nice.
Getting back to the song-fic. I once wrote a piece of song-fic. It was Quantum Leap, and I'm pretty sure the song in question was written by Savage Garden..moments later..oh man, it sure as shit was --
here's the offensive piece of shit now, living onward in the annals of the internet,God help us. Sometimes I think the internet is actually the Doctor's TARDIS. Does that make any sense at all? Anyway, song-fic! A bit back I found
a song for Rose, and! I have now found a song for Martha. Martha gets a kind of updated 70s pop/folk ballad complete with a strings intro and dastardly 'shippy lyrics, cuz she's Martha and she damn well deserves it. Here, for your listening pleasure, is Martha's current
song. The lyrics are very helpfully right here:
I foresaw you like an old ghost story
From a family tree that was handed down to me
I've known you like a siren song that warns
I have been informed you could be the death of me
But patience bounds an eternal stone
You were meant to be mine
I draw a dual with the cards of gods
That were played in fate and time
I know we'll meet again
Maybe tonight
Just tell me where and when
I know it's never sure
Maybe tonight (2x)
Sky whispers in a baritone
that the mystery always beats what I am shown
Search the the dial for what I need to know
they don't play those songs on my radio.
This song is called "Maybe Tonight" and is sung by Nicole Atkins.
Totally lame, I know. Hey! I also have a Gwen!Song and a Master!Song. I will give you both of those, too. Because I am apparently on a roll.
This is Gwen's song, it's by The Long Blondes.
This is the Master's song. When I say "The Master" I mean Simm!Master, because he's the one currently residing in my head as far as this ridiculous FANDOM SOUNDTRACK WTF goes.
PS: Besides being on a roll, I am also, apparently, The Worst Kind of Girl™ , because I just realized that I was happily placated this afternoon when my adviser called me "sweetie." Thinking about it now--about how soft his voice was when he said it, so cool and kind and genuine--one word that made me shuffle my feet and peer at him a little stupidly... I want to kick myself.
