Torchwood

I really, really liked this episode. Here's why:

Time shifts are the coolest thing ever. They are. There's just no way around it. Each time Torchwood has an episode that messes about with time, like "Out of Time" did, or "Captain Jack Harkness," I get all giddy inside. It's a trip back to 1998 for me, and "Triangle" all over again. I can just see Scully running around in that hot red dress. Hell, it's like my own damn time shift. Thus, I'd be lying if I said "To the Last Man" hadn't done it for me in that respect.

I do think Toshiko gets a rough break all the fucking time, though. I mean really -- sleep with this nymphomaniac alien! Oops, gotta kill her before she eats you! Now here, have a shell-shocked WW1 soldier! Oops, he's gonna die! And all the while Owen is totally hitting on her. I like Owen and all, but I kind of think that sleeping with Owen is about as low as it gets. Sorry Gwen, love. Seriously, though, I can't look at Owen without thinking of French Bulldogs for some reason.

Unrelatedly: do you think Jack and Own have slept together? I think not. But if they have, we can certainly rest assured that at least Ianto remains unsullied by Owen's advances, if the female leads (and Jack) do not.

Speaking of Ianto: Thank you RTD for what I'm going to call GIJMO. That would be Gratuitous Ianto/Jack Make-Out, kids. So does this mean they're in love now? Because it kind of seems like they are. Also: even though I haven't see all of Doctor Who, even I could tell that Jack was alluding to the Doctor with his whole "loved people I never would have known if I'd just stayed where I was." Lalalalalala... but HOLY HOT KISSING THERE, MAN.

That said, I love Ianto on the edge of Jack's desk, I really do. And I love Jack's smirky face,  and Ianto wibbling to Gwen over Torchwood 1918, and how their boss was also hot. And how nothing ever changes. Which, I think, was a nice right bit of foreshadowing about something or other. Totally gave Gwen the willies, at least. Honestly, I'm sort of obsessed with knowing more about Torchwood 1918. There were 5 of them, too. I counted from the second photo. And I've always loved the sort metro/victorian text on the walls in Hub. Good place for a photo... I don't know. I'm done rambling now. Thoughts?

All in all, I give this one an A-. See you next week!

PS: Does John Barrowman sort of look like the hot man Tom Cruise could have turned out to be if he hadn't ended up being short and creepy? Sometimes I look at Barrowman and I'm like, man, you're the hot Tom Cruise! Which must mean he's really hot, because for a while there, everyone wanted to do Tom Cruise. Hell, I might still do Tom Cruise, but only as Lestat.
