Angels, Intelligences, Spirits, and Planetary Talismans: or, Why I Am Now and Forever SPN's Bitch

Sep 30, 2006 20:54

ETA that I elaborated a bit more on what I understand about planetary talismans (in a John-specific way) here. Better and better-informed minds than mine may well be able to improve upon this.

I have HOUSE meta to write and HOUSE-related comments to answer. I have my Grim Noir Grimoire (my chatty little guide to SPN herbs and hoo-doo) to wrap up ( Read more... )

meta, folklore, alchemy, history, supernatural, neep

I would have a blast being able to neep away for SPN canon. I'd probably never be allowed to write for the show, given my tendency to try to get the guys flusterd and naked for appalling (albeit PLOT-RELATED) purposes.

Although, that said, I did dream last night that I went with a group of friends to watch an ep of SPN being filmed and JP ended up with a crush on me. *g* In the same fantastically plotty dream, while JP was off to film a movie, I had to travel with George Clooney. He held the plane for me because I was running late, and the vodka and chocolates we had on the flight were divine.

Apparently? My brain has decided to celebrate recent good news on all sorts of levels. :D

I'm not sure yet about whether John is dead. They made a point of saying that a reaper who comes for natural reasons cannot be turned back. That suggests to me that because John was taken supernaturally, he may well be able to return. Plus, Sam's youth and vulnerability were amazingly underscored, which suggests that we'll be seeing him mature into the "greatness" the demon insists Sam lacks.

Combined? I think those elements mean that John knows Sam has the potential for the greatness and that he knows that Sam is the key to ultimately taking down the demon in the absence of the Colt. I think that he knows -- but did not tell Dean -- that Sam could also be how he (John) escapes the demon. However. I don't think he's too worried about that bit. He truly did just want Dean to live and for Sam to have the chance to progress along his Hero's Quest. IOW, I absolutely believe that John won't stay in hell. I only strongly suspect that he won't stay dead, though. I'm definitely good with that right now. :D

But if you were sneaky and tried to use your neep for nefarious purposes? Say, oh, I don't know- some kind of ritual that the boys needed to carry out, and involved nakedness. I'm sure you could think of something. ;)

Damn, I want your dreams. *g*

Hmm, but if it is possible for John to come back- what does that mean for Dean? Because he's been saved twice now from the reapers and in a way, his life has been unnaturaturally prolonged. If John comes back, either to his body or otherwise, does that mean the deal for Dean's life comes undone? Or was the fact that John technically has died have nothing to do with Dean living? Hmm, too many questions right now. *is impatient for the rest of the season*

I kind of wish we got to hear the terms of the demon and John's exact deal. But maybe we'll hear more about later on. Hopefully.

As for Sam's exact role in how this is all going to play out- that's a whole 'nother meta right there. How much John had figured out and what he had managed to tell Dean in that quick conversation...

Well, I'm happy about the possibility that John isn't dead, that's good enough for me too right now. :)
