I woke up at 8:27 and unlike the past couple of mornings, I decided to stay up and start getting my morning work done. I had the bonus stuff left to watch on the Grounded For Life: Season 1 DVDs (Available in a store near you), so I got that done and then took my power shower for the morning. Post shower, I spent some time in debation about what to do next, so I decided to watch The Girl Next Door, since I had yet to see it, and it was a lot better then I thought it was going to be. I wanted to see it in theater when I first heard the premise but after seeing some of the advertising clips, I changed my mind because it looked like just another mindless teen sex comedy, and well it was. But there was some heart to it, which if you know me is a key ingredient to my liking of a movie.
After watching that movie, I decided to watch The Goonies, because like The Girl Next Door, I had yet to see it. I mean, sure I've seen parts of it on TV back when I was a little kid, but I didn't remember anything besides that really ugly dude, so I gave it a go. I was worried because with Steven Spielberg's involvement the likelihood of my liking it dropped a bit, but I really enjoyed The Goonies as well. Data was freakin' awesome.
Post Goonies, I had just enough time to watch an episode of a TV show, so I decided to watch the first episode of Rescue Me on DVD. This was the first time I got around to watching season one of the show, as I watched all of season 2 on FX, but didn't go back to the first season and holy crap was the first episode phenominal. I don't usually say that about shows, usually the first episode is pretty good and then you get hooked into it more a weekly basis. Like Grounded for Life, I enjoyed the first episode but I wasn't completely sold on the show until I got into it more and then liked it more and more as it went on. But, with Rescue Me that was just a powerful first episode with lots of drama and tons of comedy. I loved the scene where he was paying his kids for information, that was just brilliant stuff.
After that, I worked from 4:30 until 11:00 at Target. The store was totally understaffed and extremely busy, so we all had to stay until 11 which was the maximum time we could be in the store. It was a pretty fun night though and one that will reflect nicely in the paycheck. I also got asked to come into work tomorrow for another bonus shift from 4 to 8. I agreed, just because it's a little bit of money that I can use to buy food...or in more a more likely case, movies.
Then I came home and heated up a bowl of chicken noodle soup. I can't believe I was sick this entire week and never even thought about eating soup. Oh well, the soup was good and now I have a work induced headache, so I'm going to end this entry.
