The science of history

Once upon a time, a man named Green wed a woman named Blue. Blue gave birth to a young girl, but died at childbirth. Green named the girl Scarlet, after an old friend of his. Later, Scarlet herself got married and gave birth to another girl, who was named Leaf.

Ever since she was little, Leaf has had a passion for science. She was always trying to prove the unprovable, basing all her beliefs around science. In the end, it was impossible for Leaf to be unable to provide an explanation for anything.

That is, until she became a research assistant to Green, her grandfather and the Pokemon League Champion. She was 13 at the time, and had a full team of Pokemon (like many people, she started a Pokemon journey at the age of 10).

At first, Leaf was given what she considered to be simple tasks: Researching Pokemon behavior, explaining how to tell a Pokemon's gender through observation, finding out what climates berries grow best in. These could all be accomplished easily.

Then the hard stuff came.

Leaf was given tasks even she couldn't completely explain. Why certain Pokemon couldn't evolve, why certain Pokemon evolved in special ways, how Pokemon eggs were formed... Leaf found that even science could not help her with her research. Rather than give up, though, Leaf continued to firmly believe that everything could be proven by science. She came to the conclusion that she couldn't come up with an explanation because she was still too young. As a result, she began to follow her grandfather practically everywhere, hoping to find the answers she was looking for.

Instead, she ended up helping him research something he couldn't tell her. But while she had no clue what she was helping her grandfather research, there was a part of Leaf that seemed to tell her to keep helping. Maybe then, she would find the truth...
