Got our Dog!
Well this week has certainly turned around! Today, someone from the shelter came by to give us our home visit. We talked a lot about our chosen dog. Her name was Lunita and was passed around several times. Her original family moved back to El Salvador and she was adopted twice after that. The funny thing is, she only speaks spanish! So we're working on her english!
We have her here now and I think she's going to be a WONDERFUL dog! She's very playful, very sweet, very well-behaved and she LOVES people.
She's looks just like and acts like a Black golden. We had to rename her though. We were all coming up with names but nothing worked until I thought of Jersey! It' just fits her!
So we now have a 1 1/2 year old pup named Jersey.
When we got her home, we walked her around the back yard for a long time. Then we let her sniff around the downstairs. We had her crate all set up with a kong toy and some treats so she went right in there. She romped around after she got more cozy. Once brian and I settled down to work on our homework, she laid on the floor right next to brian and quietly slept until we were done. Right now we have her in her crate while we eat. She is whimpering a tad but nothing obnoxious or intolerable. She's just laying there like a good girl.
We haven't been able to get her to pee yet but she ate a good dinner so I think she'll need to go eventually. We think she is trained but we just dont know yet. She's never had a schedule or structure or anything. But she seems to be VERY chill yet playful.
YAY!!! Looks like over a year of searching has paid off for us!
