I'm not a huge fan of first person rubbish. I only tolerated the three Metroid Prime games because I was raised on a strict diet of Super Metroid and felt that by missing a game in the series would be like betraying a family member. Yet, despite me having zero love for any Halo game, no interest in Half Life and no tingling sensation in my mid-region over that Killzone 2 demo that took a lifetime to download, I'm loving Left 4 Dead like it was my first born child, regardless of my irrational hatred for the replacement of "for" with the number four.
It's great fun. Maybe it's the whole teamwork aspect they punish you for ignoring. Maybe it's that Versus mode can be one of the most hilarious things ever -- especially mis-calculated Hunter pounces on the Rooftop Finale. However, I cannot fucking abide the cunts who either provide a full running commentary on proceedings, especially the ones who decide that whatever course of action I take, it's clearly not what they would've done and they have to inform me of this every single time. Oh, and d'you know what else pisses me off to no end? The fuckers who decide to just run off and shoot every fucker and then whinge profusely that the rest of the team's left dripping in Boomer gunk and being face-raped by Hunters.
I'd somehow got it into my head that there were fewer cocks on the Steam version than the XBox counterpart, and, I suppose, that's why I decided to buy the game in the first place. Maybe I'm just late to the whole FPS show and only just discovering how swamped with bell-ends and annoying past-their-bedtime teenagers this genre is. Maybe this is how things are supposed to be in these games. I really do struggle to work it out, since you can go through one Versus match with a team of really good people -- and I don't just mean "good" as in their skill at the game. Even if they're newbies at least they're usually good company -- yet the next time I play, I'm surrounded with absolute cocks. The game goes from fun to irritating every time I log on.
