Physical description:
Shiina is a young Japanese female of average height with slightly above average curves. Her flowing black hair is a little longer than shoulder length, and is either kept back with a loose clasp or let to hang freely. Her eyes are dark brown, close to black. In canon, she’s more often seen wearing her school uniform than anything else.
Given that she’s technically Shiina version 2.0 (I’m taking her fresh from the cloning process), she’ll be missing pretty much all blemishes to her skin and scars, much like how Shou’s ear piercing disappeared after he was first cloned. So basically she’ll have near perfect skin, though given the institute’s nature she’s not likely to keep that for long.
Shiina has no special features that will be modified for Landel’s.
Personality:
Right off the bat, canon shows Shiina to be brave and bold. She’s not afraid to ask out the boy she’s crushing on (though circumstances end up derailing that plan) or kissing him out in public. But beyond normal circumstances, she can also be brave in the face of danger to the point of self-sacrifice. When she heard her parents were in a dire financial situation that could lead to them losing everything, she willingly tried to sell herself off as a prostitute even when her own mind was screaming at her to run. And later, when her friend Mari was singled out to be killed in order to draw Shou Hazama out of his hiding place she steadfastly refuses to release her friend, even with a gun pointed directly to her face. It all goes to show that Shiina has an incredibly strong will. When she determines to do something, she doesn’t back down.
It should also be noted that Shiina has a distinct lack of fear from death. This is different from being brave in that it’s not so much of a willingness to die for others as it is just a state of mind. Because she has experienced death (along with several near-death experiences) and been through the cloning process, she knows what to expect. She still has fears and doubts, but the thought of dying itself does not bother her.
Shiina is also very mature and responsible for her age though this may be tied mostly to her circumstances. While most teenage girls might have tried to go about their lives as normally as possible even with the knowledge that they may soon be homeless, Shiina instead did what she could to take charge of the situation and reverse it. It shows she understand that her family’s problems aren’t just for her parents to work out and they need a helping hand. Later, after she’s been saved by Hazama and the Akumetsu have given the bank CEOs a good shaking (which allows her father to get a loan for his business and makes her family more financially stable) she doesn’t just go back to just being a student. She’s shown as having gotten a job passing out samples in the square. Even with their situation stabilized, she’s doing her best to help out her family in any way she can but this time without selling something she can’t get back.
Shiina is still just a high school girl, so she does have some very idealistic views when it comes to things like romance. Before she left to become a prostitute she decided the one thing she wouldn’t sacrifice was the sanctity of her first kiss. She wanted it to be with someone she liked, so she made sure to take care of that before she left Shou in the mall that day. However pure her feelings are, though, her views on political matters have been highly influenced by Shou and her later experiences with the mafia-influenced SDF members. Therefore, she’s become rather skeptical of people in power and isn’t afraid to question the system. This is shown a bit better at the very end of canon, after a time skip, where it shows that she’s become a reporter-a profession that she no doubt utilizes to continue the Akumetsu’s work by outing corrupt politicians and businessmen.
Last, but not least, a great deal of Shiina’s character revolves around her love of Shou Hazama. She can’t stop him from carrying out his plans but she offers to help him despite the risks (he turned her down, though). It hurts her a great deal to see the Akumetsu die, even with Hazama standing unharmed next to her. She realizes it’s an important task he has chosen to see through and eventually gives up trying to stop him. In fact, she’s grateful for all he does and trusts him above all others. Even when the SDF claim it is Shou’s fault for their teacher and classmates being held hostage and killed, she never loses her faith in him.
Powers:
Shiina has no otherworldly abilities. She’s pretty much average despite having been reborn as a clone.
Unfortunately, Shiina is still a high school student and is the master of no special trade or skill. She’s probably athletic (due to mandatory P.E.) but not overly so, and she’s probably smart but only as far as average high school educations go. Expect no genius, but I would surmise Shiina was intent on going to college after high school, so she is a diligent student if nothing else.
