-Here is a man that was born ever so long ago. There are many who have no clue who he is, but some know plenty about him. His name is Neal Cassady. You could track him down by researching such people that wrote books, such as Jack Kerouac, Ken Kesey, Tom Wolfe, and Allen Ginsburg. All, wrote about him in some way or another. But the most known writer to talk of such words of Neal Cassady is, Jack Kerouac. Threw my eyes, what i have found is that Jack Kerouac was a true brother to Neal. They went threw hell and back and found eachother during all trips. But as you read you find out that Neal and Jack did not have to much in common. Neal was a drifter of 'all' life. Leaving behind what he had to and grabbing what he did not need. Just so on the next time it would be important. I have found that Neal Cassady dreamed of 'living happy ever after'. The white picket fence, the wife, the kids, and the dog. I am not sure if he ever had a dog but he did have a wife (a few) and some children. But there was no white fence. The closest he came is what i found in 'Off The Road' by Carolyn Cassady. But i do not think he really wanted his happy ever after. It was like a dream, or a fantasy. I think he knew this would never happen. 'You could live happy for awhile but as history shows, it goes down a hill at some point.' Any such person like Neal Cassady must live his life. His father was a poor drunk in Denver. And Neal became a car thieve and con man. But this was to live, well and for the thrill of living. Neal Cassady never meant to get famous. Never meant to be in some books. All he ever did was 'lived'. And some found that the way he did was more exciting then anything they have ever seen. I dont' even beleive that once he got known for being 'Dean Moriarty' in 'On The Road' he still did not live up to be who Jack said he was, never felt he had to live up to that. He just still continued to 'live'. (he was in Jail when 'On The Road' was getting well known). Neal Cassady just lived, and for that i will admire him.-
-Strange ways-
To be...
