So, yesterday I went to the Sounds of the Underground tour with David and Matt.
IT FUCKING ROCKED MY FACE OFF.
I got to see and/or listen to lots of cool bands, and some not so cool ones. I even made a shirt for the occasion. I took a size large Hane's mens undershirt and made a drawstring tube top out of it. It was white. Why did I do this?
So it could be stained by GWAR's awesome fluids, that's why! Not only is it totally stained, front AND back (I was so soaked I felt like I had peed myself), buuuuuut, Oderus Urungus signed the chest area of it AND drew a nipple (it was really a u shaped circle...), and Flattus Maximus signed the other side and sort of connected the 'dots' Oderus made while deliberately writing his name verrrry slowly.
I found this very funny. Dave Brockie says I have fabulous breasts. :) GWAR likes my oobies!
I wish I had a photo of myself after the concert, because, as Matt put it, I looked like I had a fake tan. My hair was wet, my clothes were soaked, even the white rubber part of my Converse sneakers are orange! But it was awesome. I'll have a photo of the shirt sometime later. It's bad ass.
I had to take a shower downstairs in my mom's bathroom because my light doesn't work, just to make sure I got all the red stuff off of me. As my subject says, my underarms are still stained, as are my cuticles.
Now, most people end up getting their faces and maybe the top parts of their shirts sprayed. Why was I soaked from head to toe?
I was on the barrier. Right in the front. It was AH-MAZ-ING!
Other than GWAR (which was why I went in the first place, and let me tell you, I wanna do that AGAIN!), I got to see Amon Amarth (who were really awesome), Every Time I Die (who I actually really liked, one of their guitarists jumped into the crowd, and the singer stood on the barrier and let the crowd hold him up while he sang over us), and Chimaira (who were cool too, but Matt said they were assholes).
Oh, and Matthew got to go backstage. I don't know how he did it...he just has this gift, but he got to chat with all the bands and meet lots of cool people and even drink a beer! BAAH! Lucky boy. He's not even 18 yet, and he's drinking beer with rock stars. David said Matt would probably be one of those guys to end up with a record deal just by walking in the wrong place at the right time.
I seriously cannont stop thinking about GWAR and what a fabulous time I had. That was probably one of the most amazing concert experiences I'd had in a loooooooong time. I just let go of everything, and concentrated on the band and the moment, and let the spray of fake blood hit me right in the face (along with some blue stuff shot out of these veiny cannons and Oderus' "pee").
It's bedtime now...but I just had to write about it. Had to!
On another note, my grandparents came back with my mom and stepdad today. Grandpa is in a wheelchair now. I knew this would happen, but hey...what can I do, really? I'm going to be here more, though. I regret not spending more time with them the last time they were here. And me spending more time with them means me not spending money, which is good. :)
OW! Mitch is under the sofa and just swatted at my foot. Silly cat.
