Not a bad ep yet this series! I loved this! Just like every other ep this season, this two-parter is just brilliantly entertaining as a stand-alone, but it's even more better in light of the bigger picture.
The only thing I really remember I have to say about the first part--the only thing I must mention because I don't recall anyone else mentioning it--is OMFG he let Donna fly the TARDIS!!!! WTF?!?!? I won't go into all my griping there, but just know I was not amused. ( I was, however, entertained)
But part 2! Yay! I loved it!
I took notes:
I heard the Master's little trill in the music when the Sontaran remote clones (the UNIT soldiers) were applying the transmat
stickups to the TARDIS. That was weird. Murray Gold referred to it in the liner notes for the S3 ST as saying "The Ma-ster"--oh, I'm sorry, it's the "Saxon Motif." I had to look it up. Anyway, just an aside. It made me curious. Then again, all the DW music seems to be roughly the same 5 themes anyway. Luckily, I like them all a whole lot :)
I had to just roll around in the way TD was totally dissing Martha. I mean, yes, I know it was evil!Martha, but still, he got to dis on her! Yay! A little cookie for us Martha Haters! *heavysigh* and *headshake* I don't like Martha.
And OMFG!Rose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the Monitor. Yelling, "Doctor" silently. Yay! (I hope!) They totally pasteded that in, man. But Okay. I r happy Rosefan.
And then, my mother got to refer to herself as brilliant--and my f-list knows I said it here first, "Dona Nobis Pacem!" Yay! Loved that. Loved that, unlike Rose, Donna didn't magically know instantaneously precisely what to do when the Doctor gave her obscure hints. More evidence for a psychic link between TD and Rose? Hmmm.
And the LOL of the night? "Are you my Mummy?" FTW!! I had to rewind that bit! That will most certainly stand out as a fave moment from this series forever and always! Self-referential, that's my show!
And then there was a moment I was surprised didn't happen more often onscreen--the OMG-I'm-still-alive hug, immediately followed by the Doctor's "Get off me!" Oh! That stings! And it's why I adore Donna: she didn't get all pouty and wonder why the Doctor didn't want to hug her. She just used logic to deduce that perhaps saving the world was important somehow...
And then Happy!Wilf-- whistling! Loved Wilf! Loved him telling Donna to go see the stars. He made me cry. Luke Rattigan made me cry, too, when he did the right thing and saved the Doctor. I loved that. I hope the Doctor doesn't feel too guilty about that.
And I am unspoiled for next week, but I am just betting we'll see Jack?! He was mentioned and we saw 2 shots of the Doctor Detector....it's only TV, after all, not rocket science.
