Very rotten. I'm used to a certain amount of sniffling as just part of how winter is, but there are limits on what I'd put up with, if it were my choice.
Unfortunately, this place doesn't seem to much care for what we'd rather put up with. I've escaped most recent curses, but of course now that I've said it, I've probably gone and painted a target on my back.
I'd been assuming it was only a matter of time. I should be thankful that it's just a cold and not a cold and the compulsion to make embarrassing confessions.
I mean the confessions, but I'm glad I was skipped over for this one, too. I've just been trying to make sure everyone I know is looked after, really. My Mum's better at that than I am, though.
[Curious pause is curious.]
You aren't from earth? That's... wow, er, I don't know if I've quite met anyone from a different planet before.
I think I can safely promise that no matter how much experience you have with taking care of sick friends, I'm sure all your sick friends appreciate it immensely right now.
[ A pause as well, more thoughtful than curious. ]
That seems to be true for a lot of people here. Where I'm from interplanetary travel happens all the time, so that's still strange to me.
Up until I try to force soup down their throats, yeah.
[But she sounds more amused than anything else.]
Interplanetary travel? Merlin's pants. And here I am, only been out of England twice in my entire life. This place must be especially difficult for you, I'd imagine.
It's funny how much is exactly the same, actually. Obviously there are details, sometimes inconvenient ones like colds, which aren't. But people seem to reliably be people no matter where you go. For good or bad.

Or maybe unlucky, considering. It's a rotten curse for them to throw at us, isn't it? As if the cold weather wasn't enough.

Though I suppose... as far as curses go, anyway, this isn't too terrible. Where is it you come from?

Cold weather and colds go hand in hand, even without curses to cause them. That was true on Barrayar, the planet I'm from, too.
