Was re-reading this story because I very much enjoyed it the first time around and noticed this thread.

The above comment is incorrect, age of consent in the U.S. is different per state. Nevada it is 16, California 18 for example. And in many states with the older age of consent it's not a crime if those involved are only a few years apart.
