I have not written hear in ages, and am considering writing some sort of life update.

But, for now, I share my crisis of the moment for thoughts.

I am moving to D.C. this Sunday. When I started looking for apartments in December, I e-mailed a close friend there right now and asked if she had heard of anyone who needed a roomate, and she told me a room had just opened up at her place for $600 (that is INCREDIBLE for anyone--I assume most--not familiar with D.C. real estate...I paid $1100/month when I lived there for a summer, granted I had the master bedroom of a townhouse in one of the best neighborhoods in D.C...). It was three bedroom and shared bath, I was informed. Not the best location, but easy to get anywhere from. And, it is impossible to find an apartment in D.C. right now to move into in January because of the inauguration (which I am going to!), so I took it.

Yesterday, a week before I move in, I get this e-mail:

"Here are pics of the space. I just wanted to make sure that you're cool with this space. The 2nd picture has the pic of the closet which would be yours. The only downside is that it is the living room and its not optimum privacy. But other than that, we think its a swanky little apt."

So, the apartment is not three bedroom...my room is the living room...literally the living room...there are no dividers or anything up. I am pretty sure from the pictures that this arrangement is not going to work at all for me. But, at this point, there's not much I can do since it would be impossible to try to find a new place before I move in Sunday and start work Monday. But, I also don't think you describe an apartment as 3 bedroom when you plan to have someone moving in in the living room.

I am thinking that I will show up and say I am not sure if this is going to work long-term, but I don't really have a place to stay right now so maybe I'll live here for a month. But, I know they are looking for someone who would stay until their lease is up in July. But, I think I should have been forewarned about the living room sit more than a week before moving in...

thoughts anyone...
