POndy backyard goodness

I think I need to put one gambusia in the bog... with all the rain, detergent and orange oil are not keeping up with the mosquito larvae in there. Today there are none, because I put a lot of detergent in yesterday, along with a mosquito dunk.

The pond is still growing string algae like a mofo. Sigh. Every day I go out there and knock what I can off into the pond, the goldies eat it, and then within two days it's back. I do think there's a reduction in the amount, but the point of the barley straw is that it's not supposed to regrow. If algae is regrowing, the barley is not working.

Tonight the skippy was unlevel so I leveled it and it was kind of stinky, but I couldn't find any specific stink-maker. I checked the water and the nitrates are a little higher than usual, but still within "safe" levels. Before the fish they always stayed at 0ppm, I hope they go back there when the bacterial load adjusts.
