So, one day a boy's mother was looking for her knitting needles. Little did she know that her son was downstairs cleaning his gun with them.
This caused a hook to form at the end of the knitting needle.
The mother, being a very resourceful woman, easily found a way to utilize the hook.
Later, her husband happens by, and he says, "What are you doing?"
And she intends to answer, "Knitting." but she sneezes and it ends up sounding like, "Crochet!"
"Crocheting? Is that what you're doing?"
The mother likes the sound of that, so she accepts crocheting as the name for knitting with one needle with a hook.
