Keeping pro-active is a successful coping mechanism. I've taken that strategy on board over the years and although it doesn't banish the blues entirely, it certainly helps to keep the mind focused. I love to wander for hours and luckily there are many beautiful places in this City to explore. If life is becoming too much I usually stroll to the beach (come rain or shine), armed with my trusty ipod and sit for an hour or so in a shelter watching the waves rise and tumble. It helps me to exercise my thoughts and realise what and WHO are important to me. I'm a great advocate in 'Ocean Therapy'......that and bubble baths! Nothing like a long soak in a fragrant foam filled tub to revive the body and make a gal look and feel gorgeous. I've battled with depression since my early teens and tried almost everything to beat it, including prescribed medication, recreational drugs and alcohol but these are only short-term answers and only ever made me feel worse than I did previously. I've had to learn these things the tough way but I've taken from my negative experiences and used my past to help with positive decision making for my present and future circumstances.
Life is what you make it and often what we're looking for is right there in front of us.
