Disney!AU Jimmy and William!

((yeah, IDK either))

William really wished that someone else would have taken over this job. He really couldn't stand ignorant stupid people kids. But he knew that, for better or worse, he was the only one who could do this job. At least, he was the only one who could do this job right.

“A king has to be wise and just,” he instructed as he stalked around the table. “Alert at all times--” He whacked the boy on the back of the head with his sheaf of parchment to get his attention--which drew a soft “ow...” from the blonde. “--And prepared to make important decisions. Decisions so important that they can determine the fate of man, the kingdom, and Christendom as we know it!”

When this drew no reaction from the boy, William stopped his pacing. “Young Master James!” he harrumphed, arms crossed over his chest. He stared down his nose at the blonde.

“Yes sir, Liam, sir!” Jimmy replied, snapping into an upright position and lifting his hand to his brow. He only saluted the stack of books against the far wall.

“That's William to you, Young Master James,” he replied testily, whacking him with the papers once again for good measure.

Amused by his new name, Jimmy leaned back in his chair and said, “Why don't you just rule and I'll sit on the throne, look charming, and win the wars?”

As William raised his papers in a threatening manner, Jimmy lifted his hands in defense and hid behind them.

“Okay, okay!” he yelped. “You know, it wouldn't hurt to just say no instead of smacking me each time!”

“You'd never learn otherwise.”

“What happened to 'brain over brawn', then?”

William arched one eyebrow, as if he was being asked a question with the most obvious answer and the boy was missing it completely. “I'm only trying to stimulate your brain into action.”

“Ooooohhh...--hey, wait! That doesn't make sense!”

“Neither does you being king but I guess I'm in charge of attempting to fix that--among other things.”

Jimmy snorted, taking his turn with the arms crossed over his chest. “I'll be a great king! I'm great on the lists--have you seen me joust?!” He threw his hands into the air. “The people love me!”

“Yes, but what about all the other aspects of kingship?” William asked, leaping at the chance to start a lesson. “You might be a strong king, but what about a just and fair one?”

Jimmy had a strange look on his face; William had learned that it meant he was concentrating. “But I can just win all the wars and tournaments and everyone will know how strong I am and not want to bother me.”

“It is possible,” William admitted. “But what happens if you can't afford a war? What if your crops failed that year and you couldn't possibly spare the time to go beat people with long wooden sticks?”

“Lances,” Jimmy corrected automatically, but he was still attempting to concentrate. “Was... my father a fair and just king?”

The young man hesitated before saying, “In his own way.”

It took another few moments before lines of resolve became etched upon Jimmy's face. “Alright. Start your first lesson, Will! Do your worst!”

From behind him, William couldn't help the small smile of satisfaction from crossing his features. “Well chosen, Young Master James. First, we'll start with geography!”

Jimmy let out a small groan as William slapped a map onto the table before him.
