When a defining moment comes along, you can do one of two things.
Define the moment, or let the moment define you.
It was a single look.
In reality she'd seen that look a lot more that she could even count, but it was still that single look. It was the kind of smile that was so honest, so full of life, and love... and hope. God it had been a long time since she'd seen hope on the face of an expectant mother, and there it was with near tears streaming down Sun's cheeks as she told her that her baby was healthy, and that it was Jin's child.
Still there was the tape recorder hidden in the locker, and the plan that she knew... she knew was still going to have to be put into action. Ben would send someone to retrieve it, to check to see if she'd left anything... any message. Her chest ached with dread thinking that this was the moment. This was the moment where she had to choose, because this was the point of action. Her hand pressed to the cool metal of the locker at her side, hesitating on the latch, fingertips that rested there for a moment wanting to pull it open resisted.
Part of her fought with it, thinking that no one would know if she had been in there with Sun. That was such a lie though, she knew the moment she walked in there the cameras in the Hydra would have picked her up. Even in the Pearl... anywhere on the island that had a relay could see what she'd done. The proof was there. Already being sent to people that would know. Even if Ben had everyone wandering through the jungle, staying away from the settlement.
Even if he was no where at all.
He'd still be able to get to her.
He was still going to be everywhere... anywhere he wanted.
This was the way he was. This was the way he would always be. This was Ben. There was nothing beyond ownership, and Juliet knew that right now this was her only option, because leaving this message, leaving this one bit of information would set things in motion.
Taking in a deep breath she opens the locker and records the message. It's just one. One single message that is going to start a war. Leaving it behind she leaves the station and rejoins Sun, still letting that image of just how Sun looked when she truly realized things might be okay press to the front of her mind.
It would be that image that would take her back to the camp, and that very smile... that look that would make her go to Jack that night. If she was going to start a war with her words, she was going to make sure that at least one side had an advantage.
