Writing stuff + thoughts on the Lois/Reboot uproar
Spent the whole day battling with my muse today. I said last time the next chapter of Revelations definitely wouldn't take two months like that one. Yeah... I'm so not going good on that. Still, there's time and I'm getting there. Aiming for a spoiler tomorrow.
Also, I kinda have two ideas for new original stories as well which haven't helped me on the story I'm currently writing *headdesk*. I mean, fanfiction is fun and all but when I tell people I write I want to have something more to my name that a fanfic "novel". I also need to prove to myself I can do more than borrow someone else's world. I've got a medieval trilogy thing I think I might actually give a serious shot this year. I think if I can hash out a detailed plot for all three I'll give the first book a go in NaNo this year. The other idea was for a murder mystery and when I told my Mum the plot (esp. the twist at the end :P) she thought it was brilliant which was nice to hear :P
First of all, I can't recall ever hearing Lois won't be in the movie at all, just that she's not the leading lady.
After a bit of thought this is what I've come up with: I have quite a few Superman comics on my shelf that I love, some of which don't even have Lois in them at all. Though I find it hard to believe she won't be in it at all maybe Snyder is going for a more action-oriented film?
Let's face it, it's not a romance movie, they don't need romance in it to make it appeal to most people who go to see a Superman film. They have to cater to the mainstream to make the most money and the mainstream might know Lois Lane and Superman go together but most won't really be invested in their romantic relationship at all.
The theories I've heard so far are:
- Chloe: I really hope not, it's bad enough they've shoe-horned her into the comics, I don't want to see her on the big screen too. Sure, she can be tolerable, but she's a Smallville character, leave her there.
- Cat Grant: This one interests me, I like Cat (esp. L&C's version :P), I don't want her to be the lead though.
- Mercy Graves: This means Luthor, so I'm not thrilled if this is the case. I said over at ES.c I could maybe deal with Luthor and someone else (except Zod *snore*) being the villains, but not really Luthor alone, I liked him in SR but he's getting over used. Also, why in the hell would Mercy be a lead?
- Original Character: Yeah, can't really judge this one until we hear more.
- It's all a load of crap and Lois is the main female lead: Yes, please. This is plausible too. Maybe they're not doing casting calls under "Lois Lane" but a pseudonym or even just "Lead Female in Superman Reboot" to avoid leaks or even to leak something like this and gain more interest. Before revealing, haha, tricked you it is Lois after all.
So... yeah, so not really looking forward to this movie much at all.
ETA: Ursa? Not my taste either, more boring than Zod and if she's in it, could be Zod is too... hope it's wrong, though I'm pleased with the news Lois will be in the film.
ETA2: So, learnt to read properly :P. Apparently Zod will not be in the film. Yay!
But, hey, public holiday tomorrow so time-and-a-half at work, yay! Something good there :P
