Why is procrastination so tempting?

I am doing so well on my essay.   I know what I want to write about, how much I want to write on each point, where to get my examples, how to tie everything together and yet... I am procrastinating like I have writer's block in the worst way.  I really hope this isn't any indication of how I'm going to approach my Lit. exam.

Did you know that I procrastinated while writing one of my English finals last year?  I knew what I wanted to write, I felt confident, and half way through the final I lost all desire to finish writing.  That's how I feel right now.  In the back of my head I've been contemplating adding two more body paragraphs into my essay.  I'd fulfill the word count without them, but it would be one more point that would really prove my thesis.  I don't know if I'll ever get to the point of writing out that point, however, as I can not bother myself to finish my essay as it is.

My essay is due in little over 24 hours.  I should get back to it... eventually.
