"We're involved in an independent study group and there's something we were hoping you might be able to help us with," Callisto gestured to Anakin to take over.
Anakin sat down and put the bag of phones onto his lap. "Afternoon, ma'am. We were thinking of conducting a bit of a practical application of tactics this weekend, but we don't have comm devices in common."
He patted the bag. "Someone suggested that the GPS in cell phones might be able to be modified to sync up with each other and with a laptop." He looked at the replicators. "And I could think of anyone at school who would be better at this kind of modification than you."
Truthful, to the point, added bit of flattery. He'd learned his lessons from Obi-Wan.
"I suppose this has nothing, quite, nothing to do with the tactical discussion the young Miss Parker had with me after class on Monday, hrm?"
She purses her lips and continues, "A little practical application of tactics, Mr. Skywalker?" she said, lips curving into a small smile. "We're people of action, lies do not become us
( ... )
"Thank you," she says, taking the bag and dumping all the cell phones on her desk. She lines them in a row and cracks her knuckles briefly.
As the trial run, she sticks three fingers directly into the first phone and codes the chip to connect to the satellite. Satisfied, she removes her fingers and finishes the rest quicker, dipping one finger in one and two fingers from her other hand in another. The coding is simple enough that she can quickly scan the phone numbers saved in each phone and learn certain things about each owner by the pecking order of who is on speed dial. Knowledge is power, after all.
She smiles.
"Phones are done. Let me get you that disc," Eighth says, looking up at the two students.
"I love my work," she says absently, opening her computer and sticking a disc in. She sticks a hand into the keypad, thinks a moment as she finalizes the coding, and then removes her hand. Taking the disc out and putting it in a protective envelope, she hands it to Callisto with a smile. "Anything else I can do for you?"
"Not right now," Anakin replied, taking the phones back with a slightly panicked look on his face. He'd never met someone who was that much better than him at working with mechanical objects.
"Doctor Carter, could we have a moment?"
[Anakin modded with permission, yo.]
