Sent off my forms to APRA yesterday for a show I'm designing that opens on Feb 6th. A relief to have things moving a little more. We bump in in the first week of February, which coincidentally is the week I fly to London to do secondment work in the West End, so I'm starting to feel the time pressure more than I'd like.
I'm also trying to get into a more creative headspace; got an email from James the director saying the play's taking a totally new direction - "There's this divide between art and life that permeates the play and not just in the way the two acts are called art and life." I work most Sundays at The Old Fitzroy theatre, which sucks when the show's runs are on Sundays but I've asked the boss to swap days this week so here's hoping I can make it to the run on the weekend.
The design is coming along pretty well. It's frustrating that I won't be here to op the show; it'll be the Stage Manager (who will also be opping lx) so the design needs to be fairly straight forward and easy to op. I guess it's a good challenge for me, though it'll test my nerves handing a design over then leaving the country.
If you're interested, there's show info here.
