So I do the normal thing that happens when you get into a new fandom (Not that I dont have enough already...) I started with the Disney film, read the book a few times.That being The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Victor Hugo was not a happy man) and so, full of boredom I thought i'd see if there's anything fanfic wise.
We have about a million Mary-Sues (All of them are amazing gypsy women who Clopin/Frollo falls in love with)
A thousand Phoebus bashers...for no reason at all (He wasn't a dick in the book on purpose! It was THE TIMES people!)
Lots of OC's that feel sorry for Quasimodo and as a result end up falling in love with him. Look people, I know beauty is meant to be on the inside but...seriously...no. Plus he was deaf as a door nail!
Pleanty re-writes of the Disney version only somehow Esmerelda dies in the first 2 paragraphs only to be replaced with another random but stunning gypsy woman. Who falls in love with Phoebus but still ends up having a threesome with Clopin and Frollo at the end.
And my personal favorites, teenagers from the 21st centuary somehow being magically transported back to the 1400's and getting involved in the story. Without anyone questioning why they are dressed in jeans and don't speak french.
I do believe i'm going to go back and read the book. Victor Hugo is prozac after that lot.
