Neil and I went to the Asian Festival in Eugene on Saturday. It's in the expo halls at the fairgrounds so it's all undercover. There is an art gallery, demonstrations of dance, martial arts, taiko drumming, bonsai, music, etc. a food court and many, many vendors. We had a wonderful time wandering around and drinking it all in.
One of the vendors had various insects cast in acrylic. These were used as a pendant on a cord necklace or the center on a braided cord bracelet. I'm guessing their target customers were six year old boys. One of them (the "bug" not the customer) was so unusual and interesting that I bought it. I thought at first it was a beetle because it looks as if it has a hard carapace with six thorn-like points sticking out around the edges but Neil pointed out that it has eight legs.
I found a photo. Isn't he cool?
