416, Thursday morning

Oct 04, 2007 09:35

Peter was awake. He didn't want to be, but apparently the urge to emo think deep and thinky thoughts was too much for him to overcome.

So there he was, staring at the ceiling, and trying not to disturb his roommate if she was around.

{ooc: for said roommate}

Mac was largely involved in a large CSS textbook. She glanced up at Peter every once in a while, as you will tend to do when you know there's someone else around.

"Finished counting up the marks on the ceiling yet?" she asked, finally deciding she needed to break the quiet.

"I've got a corner over there still to do," Peter said, pointing.

"Huh." Mac looked upwards for a moment. "Think you must be into the thousands," she remarked. "Bored by any chance?"

"Trying to distract myself," Peter said. "So far it's not really working. Maybe I should've stared at the walls instead."

"I don't think that would've been a whole lot better," Mac decided after a moment.

"I can try and do distracty something?" she offered.

Well now Peter was curious. He peered over at her, waiting to see what she'd come up with.

Mac paused, now realising she actually had to figure out a distracty something. She'd already very much vetoed both Cally and Warren's preferred methods. Neither dancing around in blue tights nor making out with him seemed like a good idea.

"Do you play cards?" she tried instead.

"What's the game?" Peter asked.

"Doesn't really matter," Mac replied with a little shrug. "Not like we're particularly tied to one choice."

"It was really just the first thing to come to mind."

"Go Fish?" Peter suggested. "Old Maid's no fun with two people."

Mac nodded. "Works for me," she said, leaning over to snag a pack from a drawer.

"Does asking what you're trying not to think about defeat the object of this?" she asked as she shuffled the pack.

"The weekend," Peter said, not minding the conversation as long as there was distraction along with it. "Things got - I dunno. Stuff happened."

"The... memory thing?" Mac asked, as she continued to flick through the cards.

"Yeah." Then figuring he may as well get it over with, he said, "I thought I was boyfriends with Sam."

"Oh." Mac paused in her fiddling. "That must've been... awkward," she said.

Peter's facepalm was a pretty accurate answer.
